Hard Reset Instructions
Many issues faced by smartphone users can be quickly and easily solved by performing a "hard reset" on the device.  A hard reset is a process that restores your smartphone to factory settings, oftentimes clearing up software glitches and inconsistencies that cause your phone to become bogged down and perform slowly over time.  

VERY IMPORTANT: Please remember that a hard reset will (in most cases) delete all data stored on the device, restoring it to its original state.  This means that contacts, pictures, and all other data stored on the smartphone will be erased. Please make sure to backup your data before performing a hard reset!


Most devices can be hard reset by two methods:
*Instructions for both methods for all the devices we sell are included below.

1. Button Method- This is a series of button presses that allows you to hard reset many smartphones without turning them all the way on or booting them all the way to the home screen.

2. Settings Menu Method- All smartphones have a settings menu where the most important device features are configured.  This method allows you to quickly and easily hard reset your smartphone simply by navigating to the appropriate menu and selecting the reset option.

Both methods are described below.


1. Galaxy S3
2. Galaxy S4

Galaxy S3

Button Method
1. Turn phone off completely (pull battery or power off)

2. Press and hold the VOLUME UP and HOME (Center) button.
3. Press the Power Button until the phone vibrates (while still holding Volume Up / Home)
4. Wait until you see the Android logo then release all the buttons
5. Scroll down with Volume Down to Wipe Data / Factory Reset. Press Power to select this.
6. Scroll down to Select YES with Volume Down then press Power.
7. Your phone will start to erase data, when it says DATA WIPE COMPLETE near the bottom of the screen, Press Power again and select Reboot Phone.
8. Your Device should reboot to the Welcome Screen and your phone will be reset.

Settings Menu Method

1. While the phone is on, go to the SETTINGS menu.
2. Navigate to SETTINGS / BACKUP & RESET / Factory Data Reset / Reset Device / Delete ALL
3. Once you select Delete All Data, your phone will reset to factory settings.

Galaxy S4

Button Method

1. Turn phone off completely (pull battery or power off)
2. Press and hold the VOLUME UP and HOME (Center) button.
3. Press the Power Button until the phone vibrates (while still holding Volume Up / Home)

5. Scroll down with Volume Down to Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Press Power to select this.
6. Scroll down to Select YES with Volume Down then press Power.

8. Your Device should reboot to the Welcome Screen and your phone will be reset.

2. Navigate to SETTINGS / ACCOUNTS / BACKUP & RESET / FACTORY DATA RESET / RESET DEVICE / ERASE EVERYTHING
3. Once you select Delete All Data, your phone will reset to factory settings.

Galaxy S5 /S6

Button Method

1. Turn phone off completely (pull battery or power off)
2. Press and hold the VOLUME UP and HOME (Center) button.
3. Press the Power Button until the phone vibrates (while still holding Volume Up / Home)
4. Wait until you see the Android logo / Recovery Booting then release all the buttons
5. Scroll down with Volume Down to Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Press Power to select this.
6. Scroll down to Select YES – Delete User Data with Volume Down then press Power.

8. Your Device should reboot to the Welcome Screen and your phone will be reset.

1. While the phone is on, go to the SETTINGS menu.
2. Navigate to SETTINGS à BACKUP & RESET à Factory Data Reset à Reset Device à Erase Everything
3. Once you select Delete All Data, your phone will reset to factory settings.

Note 1

Button Method

1. Make sure that your Samsung Galaxy Note is Off and has no SIM or Memory cards inside.
2. Take out its battery for 10 seconds, Then put it in again. Make sure phone does not power on.
3. Press and hold Volume Up key + Volume Down Key + Power button.
4. Keep pressing these keys until the phone vibrates, then release Power button only.
5 Wait until you are into Factory reset / System Recovery menu, Then release all keys.
6. Use Volume Down key to scroll down and select Wipe Data / Factory Reset option.
7. Use Power button to confirm the operation.
8. You need to use the Volume Down key again to select "Yes -- delete all user data"
9. Use Power button to confirm the operation one more time.
10. After performing the hard reset, select the "Reboot System Now" option. Confirm this selection using the Power button.
11. Now the phone will reboot. Wait for it to boot completely. The device has been factory reset.

1. Go to Settings / Backup & Reset / Factory Data Reset / Reset Device / Delete All

Note 2

Button Method

1. Press and hold (IN THIS ORDER) - Volume Up , Home and then Power button for about 10-15 seconds
2. Your phone should boot into Recovery Mode
3. Use volume Down to navigate to Wipe data/factory reset.
4. Use Power to Select Wipe data/factory Reset
5. Scroll down with the Volume Down button and select YES with the Power button
6. Your phone will start to erase data, when it says DATA WIPE COMPLETE near the bottom of the screen, Press Power again and select Reboot Phone.
7. Your Device should reboot to the Welcome Screen and your phone will be reset.
 
Settings Menu Method
1. Go to Settings / Backup & Reset / Factory Data Reset / Reset Device / Delete All

LG G3


Button Method

1. Turn the phone completely off. ( Pull Battery or Power off)
2. Press and hold the Power/Lock Key + Volume Down key on the back of the phone.
3. Release the Power/Lock Key only when the LG logo is displayed, the IMMEDIATELY press and hold the Power / Lock Key again.
4. Release all the keys when the Factory hard reset screen is displayed.
5. Press the Power/Lock Key to continue or either of the Volume Keys to cancel.
6. Press the Power/Lock Key once more to confirm or either of the Volume Keys to cancel.

Settings Menu Method

1. Go to Settings
2. Navigate to Backup & Reset and choose Factory Data Reset
3. Select Reset Device and also choose Erase Everything / Delete All
4. Agree with the Alert and complete the hard reset process.

LG E970 / E980


Button Method

1. Turn off the device
2. Make sure the battery is already full or more than 50%
3. Press together and hold the Volume Down and Power Button for about 5-10 seconds
4. Keep holding those buttons down, you will see LG splash screen pop up and then right after the FACTORY RESET menu will pop up.
5. Pess the Power button TWICE to Continue the Hard Reset Process
6. Press the Volume Down button to cancel
7. The device will reset to factory settings

Settings Menu Method

1. Turn on the Phone
2. Make sure the battery is not empty
3. Go to Menu :  Setting > General > Backup and Reset > Factory Data Reset
4. Choose : Reset Phone > Erase Everything
5. The device will do the master reset process.

HTC One


Button Method

1. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN Button and then press and hold the Power Button.
2. Wait for the screen with the three androids at the bottom then release the Power and Volume Down Buttons.
3. Press Volume Down and scroll down to Factory Reset.
4. Press the Power Button to select Factory Reset
5. Your device will be wiped and will return to factory settings.
 
Settings Menu Method
1. Go to SETTINGS and then select BACKUP & RESET
2. Select Reset Phone
3. If you want to delete media and documents and other data from the storage make sure you select the check box that says ERASE ALL DATA.
4. If you want to delete the SD Card Data – Select ERASE SD CARD also.
5. Select OK and your phone will reset to factory settings.

Settings Menu Method

1. Hard Reset - Go to the SETTINGS menu and navigate to SETTINGS / GENERAL / RESET / ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS
2. Soft Reset for iPhone – Hold the Home / Power button at the same time until your device restarts.

Motorola (All Models)


Settings Menu Method

1. Go to Settings / Backup & Reset / Factory Data Reset . Reset Phone / Erase Everything
 
Buttons Method
1. Make sure you have charged the battery (more than 50% or 100% is recommended)
2. Backup all important data as you can, because all data will be erased
3. Power off the MOTOROLA MOTO X
4. First Press and HOLD the Volume Down button for about 2-3 seconds
5. Continue to press and release Power Button
6. If the combination between step 4 and 5 is success then the phone will boot into
7. AP Fastboot Mode where you will see different BOOT MODES
8. Navigate menu with Volume Down button to go to Recovery, to choose or enter press Volume Up
9. In the step at no.7 success, we will see Android Logo with exclamation mark on the screen
10. Press hand hold Volume Up button for about 15 seconds (do not release Volume Up button after 15 seconds)  continue directly with press Power Button. If this does not work try pressing the  VOLUME UP and POWER button at the same time.
11. We will see Recovery Menu at LCD screen after doing step 10.
12. Navigate to Wipe data/factory reset using Volume Up and Volume Down and press Power Button to select WIPE DATA / FACTORY RESET.
13. Your phone will reset to factory settings.
